Eat Micro Story
Eat Micro is an innovative startup concept aimed at improving access to nutritious food. Our project focuses on cultivating micro-greens and creating ready-to-eat salad mixes. The cornerstone of this effort is the development of a dual-purpose growing system. This system features unique containers designed for both cultivating micro-greens and serving them. Integral to our approach is a sustainable return-and-refill program, fostering a circular economy.
Our immediate goal is to produce nutrient-packed micro-green salads for 100 individuals, particularly targeting those with limited access to nutritious foods and facing health challenges. This initiative aims to provide these individuals with the option to replace one meal 3-6 times per week with our nutrient-dense salads. To ensure the nutritional value of the product, I plan to conduct laboratory testing on one of the salad mixes to obtain precise nutrient data.
The proposed growing system is designed to efficiently manage 1000-1200 containers through an automated process encompassing cleaning, growing, and harvesting. Automation will enable efficient water management, mixing, draining, and cycling, all manageable by one-two individuals. Additionally, we plan to invest in a commercial sanitizing washer to maintain a high standard of hygiene for our containers.
This vision extends beyond the immediate project. I aim to refine and perfect this system to make it replicable and scalable. The goal is to manufacture and deploy this model in other small communities, thereby broadening its impact. This model not only serves as a viable small business venture but also contributes significantly to food security and provides a sustainable option for accessing nutrient-rich salads with a short growth cycle of 14-20 days.
Eat Micro is committed to creating a replicable business model that not only addresses immediate nutritional needs but also paves the way for sustainable food production practices.
